Abstract

This research entitled The phenomenon of cultural change in mandi kasai culture at Pemiri Village Lubuklinggau, South Sumatera. The purpose of this research was to determine the phenomenon of cultural change at Pemiri Village Lubuklinggau. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is to discuss the phenomenon that occur on the bathing culture in the Kasai Village in Pemiri Lubuklinggau. Subjects in this research consisted of the chief of batak kasai Traditional Village and Pemiri Hamlet community who were married and not married. The acquired data were collected by observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that the culture of the mandi kasai which must be carried out during traditional wedding ceremonies, currently it is very rarely done by bride. The current community of Pemiri Village is more interested in using a wedding with a modern style that is considered luxurious in order to prioritize the satisfaction of his life. So that the phenomenon that occurs in Pemiri Village resulted in the transition of traditional cultural marriages to modern cultural marriages
